On 24 April 2013, an eight-story garment factory, Rana Plaza, collapsed in Bangladesh. 1,127 young workers were killed. Approximately 2,500 injured workers were rescued from the building alive but many were seriously maimed for life. It is considered to be the deadliest garment-factory accident in history.
